Finding comfort
Pyjama Angels from The Pyjama Foundation are group of trained volunteers who dedicate an hour of their week to reading books, playing and engaging in fun activities with foster kids.
The Pyjama Foundation was founded in 2004 to give children in foster care the opportunity to change their lives. Founder Bronwyn Sheehan discovered that there was a gap in the system when it came to literacy and numeracy levels of children in care and from there, developed the Love of Learning Program.
This program is run entirely by ‘Pyjama Angels’, a group of trained volunteers who dedicate an hour of their weeks to reading books, playing and engaging in fun activities. However, their main role is to provide consistent love and support to the children who need it most.
Our restaurant out in Chermside were lucky enough to help some kids dreams come true, with our team able to raise over $1,000 in less than 24 hours to donate to the program.
Additionally, the team dressed up in their pjs on National Pyjama Day – their annual fundraising event. “Pyjama Day is our annual fundraising day, we had QLD restaurants dress in their Pyjamas. I was also lucky enough to have the ladies in for a group lunch to celebrate their amazing efforts and hand over some books that I was able to buy with my Local Matters Legend money.”
Our team has been worked with The Pyjama Foundation in 2021! We know our team will sleep easy knowing that they’ve made a big difference in so many little people's lives.
